Aluminium verandas

A permanent place outdoors, sheltered from rain and harsh sun. Made to your measurements in our own factory, and installed by our own team.

Your garden as an extra room

A patio without a roof only gets used on the finest days. With a veranda above it, you can sit outside when it drizzles, when it’s windy or when the sun is just too bright. Your garden furniture stays dry and clean, and you gain a space you can enjoy all year round.

We make every veranda fully to measure: you choose the width, depth, colour, roof and side walls. Glass sliding walls can be added straight away or later, so you can start open and close it in whenever you like.

Why a veranda from VeraGlas?

  • Designed to measure for your situation
  • High-quality powder-coated aluminium
  • Personal advice and a no-obligation quote
  • Installation by our own team, or install it yourself
  • 5-year warranty on the aluminium

Glass or polycarbonate?

The biggest difference is the roof panel. It determines how much light gets through, how warm it gets underneath and how loudly you hear the rain. Here are the two side by side, downsides included.

Glass roof

The most light

Stays clear and crisp for years. Rain sounds muffled on it, and your living room keeps its daylight.

  • Lets in the most daylight
  • Quieter in the rain
  • Easy to keep clean
  • Gets warmer in bright sun, unless you choose opal or tinted glass
  • Heavier and usually more expensive

Versions

  • Clear glass: an open view of the sky
  • Opal glass: matt, soft daylight
  • Tinted glass: less sun and heat

Polycarbonate roof

Light and affordable

Multi-wall plastic sheet: lightweight and well insulating. A sensible choice for a patio that gets a lot of sun.

  • Blocks more heat
  • Lightweight, handy if you install it yourself
  • Usually cheaper than glass
  • Rain is more audible
  • Less clear than glass

Versions

  • Clear polycarbonate: transparent multi-wall sheet
  • Opal polycarbonate: milky white, light and strong
Glass and polycarbonate side by side
Glass Polycarbonate
Daylight The most Fair; opal softens it on purpose
Heat in summer Warmer, unless opal or tinted Stays cooler
Noise in the rain Muffled Clearly audible
Weight Heavy Light
Price Higher Lower

Patio facing south or west

That’s where it gets really warm under clear glass in summer. Choose opal or tinted glass, or opal polycarbonate.

Patio facing north or east

Little direct sun, so light matters more than heat. Clear glass keeps your living room bright too.

What you choose

You decide the width and depth; we make it to the millimetre. On top of that, you choose:

Colour
Powder-coated aluminium in anthracite (RAL 7016), black (RAL 9005) or cream (RAL 9001). Another RAL colour is available on request.
Roof
Clear, opal or tinted glass, or polycarbonate in clear or opal. Not sure? They’re compared side by side below.
Side walls
Leave the side open, or choose a solid aluminium wall, a frameless glass sliding wall or an aluminium sliding door.
Wedge
The triangle between roof and side wall. Fill it with glass, polycarbonate or aluminium to keep out wind and rain from the side.
Front
Open to the garden, or closed with glass sliding walls or a sliding door. That turns it into a garden room.
Lighting
LED spots in warm white (2700 K) for atmosphere, or cool white (4000 K) if you want to work or read there in the evening.

What to check before you order

Four things to check now, so everything fits first time.

Measure in more than one place

Walls and patios are rarely perfectly straight. Measure width and depth in a few places and give us the smallest figure. Also look out for a gutter or window above where the veranda will attach.

Check the ground

The posts need a solid base. Loose paving sometimes needs a concrete footing. Send a photo with your request and we’ll tell you what’s needed.

Check whether you need planning permission

A veranda at the back of your house often doesn’t need permission, but that depends on its size and your plot. Check with your local planning authority (in the Netherlands: the Omgevingsloket).

Maintenance

Aluminium needs almost nothing. Rinse the roof now and then and clean the gutter, and everything stays good-looking for years. Don’t use abrasive cleaners on the coating.
